Blanch A. Wilson House

Located in Aurora, Colorado, the Blanch A. Wilson house is open for tours on the second Sunday of the month in the summer season.

Also referred to as Centennial House, it was constructed in 1890. The Late Victorian Queen Anne style brick home is two stories and 1200 square feet.

In the 1940s, the home was modified to create a two-family home with a unit upstairs and one downstairs.

The house was acquired by the City of Aurora in the early 1990s and converted back to its previous state.

The first homeowner was Blanche A. Wilson, wife to M.W. Wilson who served on the committees for water and finance. It has had six owners since.

Adams County Historical Museum

Opened in 1987, the Adams County Historical Museum started as a single building.

Today, it encompasses a history museum, cultural center, replica one-room schoolhouse, replica 1930s Conoco station, a working blacksmith shop, and much more.

Funded by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District and annual fundraisers, ACHS’s board of directors and volunteers are dedicated to keeping this nonprofit up and running.

South Platte Trail

This fourteen-mile trail extends from the northern boundary of Denver to 136th Avenue. It is the major regional trail for the Denver metro area.

Riverdale Regional Park and Fairgrounds

Since 1965, the Adams County Regional Park, now more commonly known as Riverdale Regional Park and Fairgrounds, has provided a community connection and space for residents to gather, learn, and celebrate.

Located in Brighton, the fairgrounds are alive with carnival games and attractions each October for the County

Fair. Picnic sites are available, as are reservations for large groups.

Unlike other schools around the nation, Mapleton does not offer “neighborhood schools”.

District 28J (Aurora)

Over fifty educational facilities are offered by District 28J. From Vista PEAK Preparatory with to Park Lane Elementary, AWCPA Middle School to Hinkley High School, 28J has a place for every student.

Offering programs and initiatives for success, such as Aurora Aware, Exceptional Student Services, Multi-Tiered System of Support, and more, Aurora Public Schools are paving pathways for higher learning.

Westminster Public Schools

Alongside traditional schools, Westminster offers Innovation Schools.

Colorado STEM Academy is project based and allows students to learn how sciences work together and blend with reading, writing, and the arts.

The John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy is currently pre-k through fifth with hopes to expand through the eighth grade.

Westminster Academy for International Studies utilizes a competency-based design where students can only progress to the next level once they have demonstrated competency in any subject area.

International studies focus on integrating world cultures, geography, and language into the curriculum.
